Animal footage is often used in kids’ films, television, and advertising to entertain and educate young viewers. However, getting animals to perform on cue is difficult and can be costly. That’s where GreenScreen Animals comes in. Animal footage recorded over green is an excellent resource for producers. In this blog post, we’ll explore why our footage is so versatile, how post-production techniques such as composting using After Effects can enhance the footage, and why it’s perfect for creating hilariously funny moments.

The Versatility of Green Screen Animal Footage

One of the primary advantages of green screen animal footage is its versatility. A producer can shoot the footage anywhere and anytime, including a stage. In contrast, shooting on location can be time-consuming, unpredictable, and, in some cases, dangerous. With the GreenScreen Animals footage library, producers can create any environment they can imagine without worrying about the safety and welfare of the animal or the talent.

Another advantage is the flexibility. With green screen animal footage, producers can composite various animals, environments, and even people to create a seamless and visually stunning final product. This footage is perfect for compositing in After Effects.

Bring The Laughs

The use of animals in films and television has always been great for comedy, and green screen animal footage is no different. Producers can use this footage to create hilarious and absurd moments that are impossible to achieve in real life. For example, an elephant could be placed on a surfboard, surfing on a wave in the ocean. Kids love this kind of humor, and it’s a fantastic way to engage them with an educational message.

Live-action animal footage is also an excellent resource for educational and environmental messages. Producers can use this content to demonstrate the impact humans are having on animals and their habitats. They can show how animals react to environmental changes, illustrating to kids the need to protect nature and wildlife. This type of educational message is incredibly important in today’s world, where climate change and environmental issues are at the forefront of the global agenda.

GreenScreen Animals footage is an excellent resource for producers of kids’ films, television, and advertising. Its versatility, flexibility, and potential for hilariously funny moments make it an essential tool in producing engaging and educational content for children. Storytellers can create visually stunning and seamless final products that attract and engage young viewers with content that is not only entertaining but also has the power to educate and inspire kids to make a positive change in the world.

Everybody loves animals, particularly in media & advertising. From the Geico Gecko to Chester Cheetah, brands have been using animal imagery to improve their ads for as long as there have been things to advertise. It’s a practice that makes sense: studies have shown that ads featuring animals are more effective and memorable than those without.

Unfortunately, though, not every production has animals’ best interests in mind. Here at GreenScreenAnimals.com, animal wellbeing is our top priority (that’s why we work with wonderful organizations like American Humane to make sure the animals we work with are well-treated and loved, and we only partner with the best trainers in the business).

This mission is important to us, so when an agency comes along whose mission lines up with ours, the partnership just makes sense!

Our friends at Swedish renewable energy company Tranås Energi AB work hard to provide their customers with a clean, 100% renewable source of energy with minimal impact on the environment around them. They wanted a commercial to convey their awesome culture, and mission as a nature-friendly energy company. So they came to us in 2021 to license some owl, doe, and fox footage!

Check out the ad: Animal – and nature-friendly electricity from Tranås Energi

It Pays to Stay with GSA!

The commercial ended up being such a huge success for them that they went on to renew their license for the foreseeable future! By renewing their license, they get to keep running an awesome and impactful commercial at a fraction of the cost of creating a new one! GSA offers repeat customer discounts as well, stick with us and we’ll take good care of you!

Like over 40% of our clients, Tranås Energi is based overseas, but the versatility of our library means GSA can be a solution for your project wherever on Earth you are based!

Ready to make your life healthy? Our friends at CarbonVFX & Amazon know that a healthy body is ready for anything, and they came to us to help them show it with their exciting Amazon Halo ad.

The ad is called “The Chase”, and features a woman sprinting after her dog as it chases a squirrel up a tree. Dogs love to run and chase and bark, so capturing that behavior on set is relatively easy and straightforward. But as anyone with a garden will tell you, getting a squirrel to behave the way you want them to is a whole different story.

Amazon Halo: The Chase

GSA has your back with efficient and cost-effective solutions.

But thanks to our exceptional animal trainers, we can capture that difficult behavior over and over, in up to 6K resolution, saving productions days of work and hassle. Capturing the squirrel on set would have taken an entire day of shooting, not to mention post-production afterward.

But thanks to our extensive library of high-resolution footage, the CarbonVFX team was able to select exactly the clip they needed AND edit it into their piece within 4 hours of contacting us.

Reach out to our sales team today to see what we can do for you.

Did you catch Disney plus day this year? There were tons of awesome announcements for new releases, premieres, and lots of great deals!

To build hype for its second Disney+ Day, Disney partnered with creative ad agency Compadre to create a fun new ad: The Ambivalent Man. The ad tells the story of a man that’s not phased by anything happening in his life, not the fact that his kid had an Alpaca and a Hawk as pets, finding gold in his garden, or even his dog being taken by aliens. Only the news of Disney+ Day seems to get a reaction out of him.

Meet The Ambivalent Man | Disney+ Day | Disney+

GSA footage can be used to enrich any scene.

The creative team behind the ad used our Alpaca, Hawk, and Collie footage to elevate the punchlines in their commercial, all without the need to have animals on set! Our footage provides an affordable option for any production looking to capitalize on the excitement animals can bring to a piece, without endangering the animals or crew to do it!

Disney’s Disney+ Day ad, The Ambivalent Man, is a great example of how our footage can upgrade your next big project.

If you’ve seen Jordan Peele & Universal Studios’ Nope, you’ll remember the film’s terrifying and tragic opening scene involving Gordy the Chimp. Obviously, no matter how horrifying a scene may be, it’s all acting and special effects at the end of the day, and every precaution is taken to ensure that nobody gets hurt. You may be surprised to learn, however, that there was never even a live chimpanzee on set during filming!

That’s right! Nope VFX supervisor, Academy Award-Winning VFX Artist Guillaume Rocheron, and the entire Nope VFX team created Gordy using a VFX technique known as “faux-cap”: performance capture performer Terry Notary acted out the scene on camera, and the VFX team used his performance alongside GreenScreen Animals’ 3D Chimp Model to reconstruct the scene as it appears in the film!

Click here to check out our animal scanning process.

It’s truly amazing what the Nope VFX team was able to accomplish, and we are thrilled to have been a part of it! Nope is a film partly about the exploitation of animals for entertainment’s sake, something that couldn’t be closer to our hearts here at GreenScreen Animals. It has always been our mission to bridge the gap between the film industry and the welfare and well-being of the animal talent we work with.

That’s why all of our stock footage is American Humane certified, and why we have created assets like our 3D Chimp model: to help productions achieve their vision affordably, without putting animals in harm’s way.

What’s green about GreenScreen?

Using clips from the GreenScreen Animals library is a safe and humane alternative to using live animals in your production. Just go on our website and take your pick! We have over 100 species and 10,000 clips to choose from.

GSA was created to fill a void in the stock footage marketplace. We are the world’s leading solution for high quality, humane animal content and the ‘go to’ digital media company for the world’s best, and most exclusive animal footage.

All our content is produced under the close supervision of the American Humane Association’s ‘No Animals Were Harmed’ Unit. By recording animals in a controlled, peaceful environment, the impact on them is mitigated and the footage can be repurposed in unlimited applications throughout the world with no risk to talent.

GSA’s green screen footage allows producers of creative content the fastest, easiest and most cost effective way to access media that would normally be expensive and difficult to capture.

Appreciation of nature and the natural world are fundamental to the founding of GSA and is a top priority while amassing the world’s largest library of digital animal content. Creating all of our own content ensures the highest quality HD material while keeping to our roots of animal safety, sustainability and outreach.

Soccer fever came to Silicone Beach recently when GreenScreen Animals partnered with UK’s Mallinson Television Productions (MTP) and Cravens advertising agency, on a spot for Ladbrokes’ 2018 Russia World Cup ad campaign. GSA contributed high-quality, humane stock footage from its extensive green screen animal library for the ad titled “Brian and the Bear” which appeared on national television in the UK, as well as in print and online.

“The Ladbrokes World Cup campaign has proved to be an overwhelming success thanks to director Damien O’Donnell’s vision and attention to detail,” said James Pearson from MTP. “From our initial conversation to the supply of the 4k footage, the GSA team lead by producer James Knapp could not have been more enthusiastic and helpful while collaborating on this complex project.”

The light-hearted spot features legendary British actor Brian Blessed, famous for his booming voice and beard, bursting into a pub on a Grizzly bear. Blessed makes a series of awkward puns about the Russia vs. Saudi Arabia game to a group of stunned pub-goers, and then rides off. The ads are part of a campaign by Ladbrokes, featuring celebrities promoting sports betting.

“We wanted this to feel as real as possible,” said Damien O’Donnell. “So we turned to the GreenScreen Animals footage library. They had a huge selection of 4k clips to pick from and the end result was amazing and more effective than CGI on this schedule.” O’Donnell consulted with three of London’s top five post facilities before identifying GSA as a possible solution.

GSA provided the MTP team with 10 clips of a blonde Grizzly bear on green screen doing various behaviors including walking, roaring and swiping. MTP made their selections within 2-weeks and then matched their live-action shoot to the existing stock footage.

“Our client wanted a large Grizzly bear to walk into a pub with an actor sitting on his back,” said co-founder Mark Shockley of GSA. “We were happy to offer MTP a cost-effect and humane alternative.”

GSA is the world’s leading solution for high quality, humane animal content. The company owns and licenses the world’s largest HD – 6K green screen animal footage collection. The GSA digital library contains over 8,000 raw clips, which can be utilized in a wide variety of media. GSA also provides custom shoots for clients seeking a “one-stop shopping” solution. GSA’s green animal content allows producers the fastest, easiest and most cost-effective way to access content that is normally too expensive and difficult to capture. All GSA content is produced under the close supervision of The American Humane Association’s “No animals were harmed” unit. This key alliance ensures the safety and comfort of the animal actors used in the library.
