FOOTAGE OF A PENGUIN WALKING FORWARD ON A GREEN SCREEN.
Penguins are non-flying birds with different 18 species. Each one of these species belongs to one of six genera (the plural of genus):
- Aptenodytes
- Eudyptes
- Eudyptula
- Megadyptes
- Pygoscelis
- Spheniscus.
Quick facts:
Penguins are a group of aquatic flightless birds. Most penguins live exclusively in the Southern Hemisphere, except the Galápagos penguin, which is found in the north of the Equator.
A penguin’s body is characterized by a short neck, a large head, a short tail, and short legs, the legs are set far back on the body, which gives penguins that upright posture on land and the unique wadding walk. It has a black or dark grey color, with a white stomach and chest.
They are one of the most social and friendly birds, either with each other or with people.
Penguins are very solitary birds, they may swim and feed in groups.
The penguin-human relationship is very friendly, since their main predators are underwater animals (seals, sea lions, whales, and sharks), so they feel more comfortable and safe on land around people.
Penguins’ weight and size vary from one species to another. Some extinct species grew more than 5 feet tall (1.52 meters) and probably weighed 220 lbs (99.79 kg), while the fairy penguin or little blue penguin measures no more than 13-15 inches (0.33-0.38 meters), and weighs 3 lbs (1.36 kg) at most, as they are considered the smallest penguin species.
Emperor penguins are considered the largest living penguin specie have a size that ranges from 15 inches to 3.5 feet (0.38 to 1.06 meters), and weighs 2 lbs (0.9 kg) up to 88 lbs (39.91 kg).
